By the SN it looks like mine was born February of 1943. ![]() It is a Springfield Armory, so I am very happy, (grew up in Springfield area just a few miles from the old armory). I t could pass as NIB by today's standards. So the rifle itself seems to be near perfect. I only include all of those details because that was a point of worry for me that I would keep taking days away from work, and keep getting delayed, but looks like just 2 days. I worked from home again, and the delivery guy came at about 4:30. 10:10 last night the fedex status was updated that it arrived to Portland ME (about an hour away from me)ĥ/11 Fedex updated that it was on the truck and out for delivery. CMP 1911 FORUM HOW TOHas anyone recently made a CMP purchase? The ones I see on GB look like they were inspected Feb/March of this year, so I would think they are, (or recemtly were) available for order, just cannot figure out how to do it!Ĥ/28 CC got charged, order showed up in the e-etore with a ship date of ASAPĥ/9 Received a text from Fedex, and an email confirming shipmentĥ/10 the day my Fedex was "supposed" to have arrived, so I worked from home all for not. (I need to sell the concept of another gun purchase to the wifey, value always helps!!) I would think more original era parts would keep its value best as well. I was born in Springfield MA, and lived in that area for the first 40 years of my life, so I would like to get something that is safe, but as authentic as I can. I see many listed as service grade on GB that have replaced stocks. I believe I would prefer a safe shooter that has original stocks. What I have seen says the service grade contains original wood, but has much of the metal replaced, where the expert or special grade seems to have everything including the stock replicated. I do not know if I should just pony up and buy one from GB, or go through the CMP process. I noticed quite a few of these on GB, and some prices actually look decent. Their website says they are backlogued due to COVID, so ordering may take longer, however I do not see any way to order. I searched this site, and could not find much info on any recent CMP news for M1's. ![]()
